This is how the test works
How does the theory test on the PC work? How long do I have and when will I know if I have passed? Here are the answers.
In the past, test forms and pens were handed out for the exam, but today there are PCs or tablets on which you take the theory exam. So that you know what the exact procedure on the day of the exam is, you can read it through here step by step:
- Be on site in time - at best at least 15 minutes before the start of the exam.
- Show your identity documents - identity card or passport - and pay the examination fee*.
- Hand in your training certificate**.
- You will be assigned your own test station on one of the computers or tablets and the procedure will be explained. If you have questions about the exam, you can still ask them now.
- The exam program is preceded by a tutorial that you can look at or skip if you already know it (e.g. from your exam simulations in "Fahren Lernen Max").
- When you finish the introductory program, the exam is started and you can work through and answer the questions at your leisure. You don't have to follow a specific order and have enough time to answer the questions and to check the answers. The first test specimens are usually ready after approx. 10 to 15 minutes, but there is basically no time limit.
- If you are not sure about a question, you can mark it and tick it later, or check it again.
- When you're done, you can finish the exam. For questions that have not yet been processed or marked, you will receive a corresponding message. Otherwise you have to confirm the final submission of your exam now.
- When you are finished, you will get an evaluation and the result within a few moments.
- Here you also have the opportunity to review the questions you may have answered incorrectly.
- In addition, you will receive a printout for submission to your driving school.
*If applicable, your driving school will charge the fee for you and bill you for it afterwards.
**Your driving school will also take care of that for you, so that you don't forget the certificate in the excitement.

Audio-supported theory test
The questions in the theory test can now also be listened to with headphones. All you have to do is prove that you have a reading or spelling weakness and apply for an audio test. This is usually done with the application for a driving licence submitted by your driving school. A subsequent application is also possible at any time.
